Another Victorian Mansion
Front of the Mansion
View of the side of the Mansion
This is the George E. Goodman Jr. house on the corner of Randolph and Oak in downtown Napa. Built from 1875 to 1899. The scale is so grand it is hard to capture in one photo. So here are two.

The Holden House
This is the Holden Mansion on the corner of Franklin and Pine in downtown Napa. It was built in 1888. I need to read the wooden sign out front to get the history. The front yard is done up for Halloween.

Migliavacca Mansion
There are so many beautiful Victorian buildings in downtown Napa. This is the
Miglivacca Mansion which was built between 1890 and 1893 in the Queen Ann Style.
It is constructed of fine materials, including select redwood and Italian slate shingles, and and is very ornate. It was originally on Division St but was moved to 4th St.

I have no picture for today. I have been out at the sailboat races all day. So here is a picture of my cat. Isn't he pretty?

Golden Grapevines
Words cannot describe how beautiful the Napa Valley has been this fall. And fall shows no sign of ending. Last year was my 1st fall in the valley and the autumn colors did not las long as it got cold and rained early. I sure need a wide angle lens. Would have shown the landscape better. Took this photo at the entrance to Elhers Estate Winery, just off of Hwy 29 N of St. Helena.

SEEING RED
Caught these beauties on Sunday afternoon just east of Highway 29 at Deer Park Rd. I am enjoying this extended Autumn, or should I say Summer since it was 84 degrees today.

Yesterday at Beringer Winery, Boyz Under the Hood, the Classic Car Club from Vallejo was showing their cars. I never miss the chance to to take photos of classic cars !

Beringer Winery
Went for a drive around the valley today to see all the fall colors. On the way through St. Helena I stopped at the beautiful Beringer Winery. There is a wonderful website about the history of the winery here. This is the oldest continuously operating winery in Napa Valley and the first to offer public tours.

Colors
The valley is ablaze with colors. This photo does not do the trees justice. Hope to get some better shots tomorrow. KT

Domaine Carneros Again
Here is another shot of Domaine Carneros the home of Tattinger sparkling wine. The building was built in 1988 and is a replica of the Louis XV style Chateau del la Marquetterie in France. The Chateau, just SW of downtown Napa is just off Old Sonoma Rd.

View of Vineyards
Here is a photo looking east from Las Amigas Rd which is in the SW corner of Napa.
Both the reddish brown foliage and the green are the leaves on the grapevines. I have been told that the leaves do not turn until the grapes are harvested. From what I have seen this seems to be true.

Peaceful Pond
This little pond is tucked way unnoticed on the side of Domain Carneros Winery, the winery shown on October 8th post. I am pleased at how this shot turned out.

Colors in the Vineyards
Went on a drive today in search of fall colors. Stopped on Sonoma Hwy across from Stanley lane and walked through a vineyard. It was ridiculously hot today, about 85 degrees

Downtown Napa
This is an example of the typical type of building found in downtown Napa. Many of the buildings are from the late 19th century. The store on the corner beneath the red awnings is the Napa Valley Coffee Roasting Company. The inside looks like a old time general store with wood plank floors and brick walls. This is called the Winship building and dates from 1888.
To quote the local historic society "The style is typical of late 19th Century commercial architecture, a two-story Italianate Victorian built of brick with a cast iron and glass storefront". Notice that time must stand still here for there are no hands on the face of the clock on the turret.

Bicycling
Bicycle touring is a big deal in the Napa Valley. Many high end tour companies specialize in Napa bike tours and why not? What could be better then bicycling through the beautiful vineyards then enjoying good food, good wine and good friends?

Fall in the Vineyards
Went out for a drive today during lunch, in search of fall colors in the vineyards.
It was a beautiful day with temps in the low 80's. Found some reds just off of Oak Knoll road.
Domain Carneros Winery
This is one of my favorite views in Napa. I took this photo from the patio of Artesa Winery which is about 4 miles east of where I live. In this shot we are looking SW to to Domaine Carneros which is where they make my favorite, Taittinger Sparkling Wine.... Cannot legally call it Champagne unless it is made in France.

Church from 1875
This is the First Presbyterian Church of Napa. I has stood on this site on 3rd St in downtown Napa since 1875.

Historic House
Napa has dozens of beautiful old historic Victorians. Many of them are elegant bed and breakfasts. As you can see by the sign on the front gate this one at 1929 First St is from 1875. I will have to do more research and update this post with historical information.

I actually took this shot 3 days ago. I got out too late today to get a good shot. This was taken looking SSE down on the valley from Howell Mountain Rd.
